About Us!

Stars Public Speaking & Debate Program began as Stars Educational Consortium (SEC) in 2011 with it's famous Stars Middle School Debate Program which brings together local politicians and middle school students in the Districts these politicians serve. Politicians graciously volunteer their time to judge debates and motivate students to excel!
Our middle school debate program helps students towards college readiness by focusing on real world controversial topics and issues.
The Debate Program is directed by Quisha & Omar Brown, both previous K-12 public school teachers. Both work diligently to connect students with organizations and community leaders that volunteer their time and resources to help our middle school students build upon their intellectual skills and knowledge about real world issues.
Our debate programs also help to keep students well-rounded by giving students a competitive edge when it comes to communication skills in an increasing technological world. It's so easy for today's generation to lose those important skills especially with all the technology so readily available and easy to use. Email and texting is good and quick, but it will never replace good wholesome communication and public speaking skills (or maybe I'm speaking to soon on that)

Affirmative Teams Win!
As many may have heard by now, the actual final win was for the State of Michigan Affirmative side 5 to 2.
Those that were present during the last debate had the chance to witness Julette Heddad run out of the auditorium screaming after the verdict was read by Harvey Santana.
We hope that your students (and parents too!) enjoyed the Stars Debate experience and learned alot about this very important real world issue surrounding immigrant deportations. We thank our students and parents for allowing us to work with all of you these past few weeks.
Win or lose, you all learned alot and rather you realize it or not this experience is a positive one that you will never forget!

Student Courtroom Debate

Congratulations to all of the court debate winners! Judge Langford-Morris invites Stars Debate Students to visit her courtroom on Thursdays beginning at 8:30am to view real LIVE cases. Please be advised that some cases may not be suitable for children (i.e. murder cases, sexual content, etc). Please contact the court before attending if you have this concern.
